Heather Rajaratnam
Heather Rajaratnam is a UK based, Australian born conceptual artist, currently working in recycled precious metals. Her signature style is bold and sculptural. She is inspired by her many trips to Sri Lanka where she has often taken inspiration from the ancient architecture of the East and combined it with her love of London and its landmarks.
Her current collection represents the development of a concept to create body adornment to empower women and she has taken a more conceptual expression in the pieces with the aim to make more ready to wear jewellery to follow later this Autumn.
Studio
Heather is delighted to be part of the community of artists in The Rye Creative Centre (RCC) in the ancient Cinque-Port town of Rye, East Sussex.
Once a Victorian school building, the RCC now provides artist studios, performance and exhibition spaces, and an art room.
It’s no surprise that spending time surrounded by inspiration, and creativity, in a building steeped in history makes for the perfect place to design, develop, experiment, craft, and refine.
The artists who work from the RCC regularly exhibit their work throughout the UK and internationally.
You’ll find Heather at the studios most days, creating bold, unique, and contemporary jewellery pieces, using a deep understanding of her craft thanks to her years of experience and training, inspired by her travels to Sri Lanka, and British architecture.
