Rye – March – What’s On?
Welcome to edition 3 of my personal recommendations guide to Rye and the local area from the perspective of a designer with a penchant for seeking out the most special places and experiences. Surrounding myself with the cultural, curated and curious.
Consuming art in all its forms helps stretch our creative muscles in many different ways. For me, it’s key to seek out inspiration for future jewellery collections, and supporting other creative individuals in the meantime is the perfect recipe for time spent in this corner of the world.
The Gallivant

My home in Camber is just a stone’s throw from The Gallivant, a hotel and restaurant renowned for their luxurious yet sustainable style. Whether you’re visiting for a bite to eat, staying in one of their beautiful rooms, or attending a workshop or class, it’s a lovely place to be. One of my neighbours at the RCC, Nicola Hill is holding a coastal lino print workshop there this weekend, it may be worth contacting them to see if there may still be space to join! For more information, visit their website here.
They also hold yoga classes, breathwork sessions, and guided open water swimming experiences in the camber sea.
I’ve had many delicious meals at The Gallivant and can fully recommend a visit.
Nick Archer’s Workshops

Nick Archer, another RCC neighbour, is an absolutely incredible artist. He is highly respected, and exhibits all over the world.
I’ve previously mentioned the life drawing classes he teaches at the Centre every Wednesday, but he is also holding printmaking and woodland painting workshops at Flackley Ash Hotel this spring, for more information on these, visit the Flackley Ash website here.
What a stunning setting to spend time in nature, nurturing your creative wellbeing.
Rye Nature Reserve
There’s nothing I love more than getting outside in the fresh air, come rain or shine, and even more so when we have such a beautiful nature reserve so close to home.
A walk in nature always leaves me feeling inspired, invigorated, and empowered to create.
Along the path in the Rye Nature reserve is the Lime Kiln Cafe, a perfect pitstop for a slice of locally baked cake and warm drink whilst the weather is still brisk.
These are just a few of my current recommendations in and around Rye that are on my radar. It truly is such a buzzing town full of inspiration and it makes me feel so happy to be able to share in the enjoyment.
I’ll be back next month for another instalment of my personal guide to what’s on in Rye from a designer’s perspective.
